چکیده

The various theories regarding the etiology only serve to demonstrate how much there is yet to be proved about this disease. Boeck originally considered the disease to be a constitutional one, caused by a non-virulent form of tubercle bacillus. This opinion is still held by a large number of men. A comparatively high proportion of cases will later develop an active tuberculosis. Pinner believes that tuberculous lesions develop as a part of the sarcoid lesions and not as a separate disease concurrent with the sarcoidosis. Kyrle, Wende, and Goeckerman, have demonstrated tubercle bacilli in early cases, and believe that if early lesions were examined more frequently the percentage in which tubercle bacilli are found would increase. Others feel that it may be a nonspecific tissue response to various types of organisms, and perhaps to several organisms at the same time. In this connection, tubercle bacillus, leprosy bacillus, spirochaeta pallida, and Leishmania have been mentioned. Pullinger, Ross, and others have advanced a hypothesis that it may be a disease of the reticulo-endothelial system, comparable to Hodgkin's disease. Kissmeyer and Nielsen believe that it is a chronic infectious granuloma. They advanced the theory that it may be due to a virus infection and that it is a specific pathologic entity.

Pulmonary function in Boeck's sarcoid.

Boeck's sarcoid frequently produces widespread roentgenologic evidence of pulmonary disease without clinical signs or symptoms. Wright and Filley (1) reported normal pulmonary function studies in one such case. Others (2, 3, 4, 5) have reported a variety of effects of more advanced sarcoidosis on pulmonary function. This report is a study of pulmonary function in six cases of Boeck's sarcoid an...

Further descriptions of s lesions only were published by Ienneson (1892), Hutchinson again (1898), Boeck (1899)...

The effect of an intravenous chelating agent, edathamil disodium (Na 2-EDTA), in 3 cases of sarcoidosis.

The cause or causes of hypercalcemia and hypercalcuria in sarcoidosis are obscure. Harrell and Fisher (1) were the first to emphasize that hypercalcemia, hyperproteinemia and elevated serum alkaline phosphatase could occur in this disease. Dent etat (2) believed that bone destruction represented the cause of hypercalcemia. Anderson et at (3) concluded from their studies that increased calcium a...

Testicular sarcoidosis

Urogenital sarcoidosis is very rare. To date, only about 60 cases have been described in the literature.1 This corresponds to only 0.2% of all cases of sarcoidosis diagnosed. When the urogenital system is affected, it is usually the epididymis that is involved, followed by the testis and vas deferens.2 Sarcoidosisealso known as Boeck's sarcoid or Schaumann-Besnier diseaseeis a rare chronic diso...
